ZANU PF PROFITS FROM VACCINE SCHEME WHILE IGNORING CITIZENS’ WELFARE
The president known for prioritizing his fuel cartel by hiking fuel prices in January 2020, due to his ties with Zuva fuel retailer, is now the same president threatening to bar citizens from public places and services. This president has also killed service delivery in the country. He owns a 10% stake in a company fighting to displace the Chilonga people from their ancestral lands. His party, Zanu PF, offers no public services worth holding citizens hostage for. This article highlights how Zanu PF is disinterested in citizens’ welfare. Where there is no profit, they neglect their responsibilities, even to international organizations like the World Food Program.
Forced vaccinations raise concerns about the government’s lack of democratic appreciation. The government cannot force mass vaccinations or deprive citizens of access to basic health or education services. These are fundamental constitutional rights. Zanu PF threatened to violate these rights. A government led by a man involved in past ethnic cleansing and shooting citizens during protests now claims to care. The heavy-handed approach in these human rights violations suggests otherwise. The military’s actions against citizens show that Mnangagwa only acts to crush threats to his power and wealth.
How do forced vaccinations benefit Mnangagwa? Herd immunity would mean the electoral commission could suspend by-elections, which the opposition is likely to win, and affect the 2023 elections, where a politically aware population might vote for the opposition. So why would Zanu PF activate processes that could lead to their downfall? The answer is profit. The urgency and grave threats, including calculated violations of constitutional rights like access to education and health, show this.
This situation illustrates Zanu PF’s disinterest in the people’s welfare. Otherwise, they wouldn’t force people to take a vaccine that has caused a death. A man in Gutu died after receiving the Sinopharm vaccine from China. The fact that Zanu PF hasn’t stopped using this vaccine supports the claim that they are interested only in profit. They gain from procuring rushed Chinese vaccines, regardless of the risks. In contrast, countries like Denmark, Iceland, and the Netherlands have halted certain vaccines due to complications. These countries prioritize their citizens’ welfare, unlike Zanu PF.
By endorsing unsafe vaccines, Zanu PF gets kickbacks in money and protection from United Nations sanctions through China’s veto in the security council. This allows Zanu PF to continue widespread human rights violations and looting.
In conclusion, Zanu PF seeks to increase its violations of human rights for economic gain. Basic rights like access to healthcare and education are neglected, leading to a brain drain of skilled workers. Zanu PF benefits from endorsing unsafe vaccines and gains protection in the United Nations Security Council. Zimbabweans become guinea pigs in this scheme.
