CHAOTIC AND VIOLENT ELECTIONS: A DANGEROUS SIGN FOR THE COUNTRY

0

The recent election primaries were chaotic, violent, and rigged. This is not surprising, given the state of the ruling party, Zanu PF. The party is known for its authoritarian, illegitimate, and criminal actions. They are obsessed with self-enrichment and have violated the supreme law of the land. They neglect the welfare of the people and deprive them of necessary services. These actions have led to a paralyzed state and a lack of rule of law.

The violent and rigged primaries show the extent of the problem. There were reports of abductions, rape, and intimidation. This violence suggests that there are significant gains to be made from holding public office. These gains make violence an appealing tool for those seeking power. The motivation behind this violence will likely spill over into national politics. This could lead to further state paralysis and collapse.

The upcoming national elections are expected to be just as chaotic and violent. There will likely be even more abductions, rapes, beatings, and killings. This state-sanctioned and sponsored violence is driven by the desire for power and wealth. Those in political office can gain ill-gotten wealth through plundering and looting. This motivates them to resort to violence to gain illegitimate power.

The violation of the supreme law of the land makes this possible. The rule of law is replaced by rule by law. The courts are compromised and militarized, targeting the opposition. The opposition is responsive to the welfare of the oppressed masses. These masses have been neglected for four decades. The opposition aims to provide prompt, reliable, and affordable services. However, this is an uphill battle against a regime that wants to create a one-party state. In this state, plundering and looting are the norm.

The actions of Zanu PF have led to a state of lawlessness. The violence and chaos in the primaries are a sign of what is to come. The national elections will likely be more of the same. The state is paralyzed, and the rule of law is dead. The people suffer while those in power enrich themselves. This cycle of violence and corruption must be stopped. Only then can the country hope to move forward.
