CAN GMB PAY FARMERS WHEN WORKERS ARE UNPAID?
If the looted and plundered Grain Marketing Board (GMB) cannot pay its workers, can it pay farmers? Of course not. GMB workers need money to feed their families, pay rent, transport, school fees, and taxes. They are not happy with their salaries, thanks to the corrupt, failing, and oppressive ZANU PF government. This government intends to stay in power for another five years with the help of the biased military and judiciary.
Ironically, the lowest-paid worker at GMB and Silo Food Industries earns only thirty thousand in the local currency. This currency is losing value every day. These salaries are based on the interbank rate, which does not reflect the real economic situation. The cost of living is increasing daily, but the salaries do not match this rise. People struggle to get basic rights like clean water, shelter, food, healthcare, and education. Their living standards are getting worse.
Zimbabwe is heading towards collapse because of its authoritarian and tyrannical government. The goods and services, including those from the corrupt government, are priced in US dollars. But the citizens are forced to use the local currency, which is not stable. There is no transparency, accountability, or rule of law.
So, if the corrupt ZANU PF government cannot pay GMB and Silo Food Industries workers, will it be able to pay farmers? The country has the highest food inflation in the world. This situation is unlikely to change soon. Maybe farmers and workers should go to the Chitepo school of ideology. Or maybe we will see workers supporting ED, the president, despite their hardships.
In Zimbabwe, the situation is dire. Workers at the GMB and Silo Food Industries are struggling. Their salaries are too low, and the cost of living is too high. The local currency is failing, and prices are in US dollars. The government is corrupt and failing. People do not have basic rights like clean water, food, healthcare, and education.
