ZANU PF’S ASTONISHING ANTICS: SCARFMORE’S SCANDALOUS SCHEME
Zanu PF will never cease to amaze. Just recently, the same party of senile and corrupt criminals spent thousands of pounds, giving them to British students. In return, these students wore shirts endorsing Scarfmore’s 2030 candidature. But it did not end there. Some very fat bishops, who are linked to Zanu PF because they benefit from its corruption, met English bishops. They asked these English bishops to help remove targeted sanctions against Scarfmore and other human rights violators. Scarfmore even lied about meeting Boris Johnson, the British Prime Minister.
Scarfmore was very happy about a compliment he made up. He claimed Boris thought his scarf was nice. Scarfmore was so excited that he had unemployed youths bused from all over the country to hear about his trip. During his speech, he lied about meeting a prince, whose name he conveniently forgot. This article is not about Scarfmore addressing empty chairs or lying about meeting world leaders. No, it is about how Scarfmore thought attending a global event, not a bilateral one, was re-engagement.
Scarfmore, together with the former national broadcaster, now called Auxillia Mnangagwa Television, and other state propaganda outlets, celebrated Scarfmore’s trip to Scotland. They claimed it showed that the re-engagement efforts of the tyrannical regime were working. Everything was fine until the UK Parliament started asking questions. They wanted to know about Zimbabwe’s commitment to the rule of law, electoral reforms, and human rights. Things went downhill from there. Suddenly, the British became the enemy!
By asking Zanu PF uncomfortable questions, the British embarrassed the party. If the British Parliament had been a Zimbabwean citizen, they would have been arrested for treason or undermining the authority of the president. The national prosecuting authority would have come up with more ridiculous charges. The British mentioned human rights violations, like the case of Makomborero Haruzivishe. He was arrested on fake charges and sent to Harare Remand Prison. They also talked about the Patriot Bill, which has no real patriotism in it.
The British asked about re-engagement based on restoring the rule of law and protecting freedoms of speech and political freedoms. This irritated Zanu PF. These rights and freedoms make Zanu PF anxious. The rule of law would ensure transparency and accountability, which Zanu PF does not want. It would stop Zanu PF from looting for self-gain. It would make the police and judiciary impartial. Political freedoms and other rights in the constitution would end Zanu PF’s dream of a one-party state that is above the law.
For now, Zanu PF is forgetting about reforms and re-engagement. They are settling for racism, angry at the British who once supported them. This shows the true colors of Zanu PF. They only want power and control. They do not care about the law or the people. This is the sad reality of Zimbabwe under Zanu PF. The party will go to any lengths to hold on to power, even if it means lying, corrupting others, and ignoring human rights. The people of Zimbabwe deserve better. They deserve a government that respects the law and protects their rights. But as long as Zanu PF is in power, this will remain a distant dream.
